Course Description:

If you have the desire to share your love of kayaking, you can gain the certification necessary to run your own Flatwater courses. Level One recreational skills, basic kayaking experience and a desire to learn are all you need to get started. We meet Friday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and from 9:00am to 5:00pm Saturday and Sunday. Cost includes your kayak and the basic safety gear. You are responsible for registering yourself as a Paddle Canada Instructor Candidate prior to the course start date. Basic First Aid and CPR certifications are required in order to complete this certification.




Cost:

  • 1 evening + 2 full days - $399
  • Drysuit rental (optional) - $35 per day

Prerequisites:

  • Level One skills or equivalent
  • 8 hour first aid course
  • Reliable bow rescue. Comfort and control while capsized in a kayak.
  • Efficient assisted & un-assisted re-entry skills.
  • Effective edge control for sweep and brace turns.
  • 16 years of age

Certification:

  • Paddle Canada Flatwater Instructor Certificate
